These photos sum up my year. I intended to have 1 photo per month, but a couple extra crept in
January - filled with breath-takingly beautiful walks in the snow
February - lots of playing with my new camera, a Nikon D3200 (still so much to learn!)
March - the rains fell and the meadows were turned into an enchanting boggy place
April - Nicola came home to concentrate on some serious revision for her finals, and to enjoy her flowers
and I found a week to nip over to..
As you may know, Penny has just returned from a very busy, but equally fun, two weeks in London doing the Christmas shows. Not only does she enjoy meeting some of our lovely customers, she also loves taking a look around the shows and meeting some other brilliant exhibitors.
First up was The Country Living Magazine's Christmas Fair, where she sought out Jenny Burt, who hand makes gorgeous little wooden decorations and signs and has also launched her first book on woodworking. A very talented l..
Happy New Year!
From watching Jools Holland from the comfort of the sofa with a Baileys in hand, to dodging homemade fireworks on the streets of Prague, everyone has their own way of seeing in the New Year. These are a few of our favourites:
Spanish people place a grape in their mouths on each of the twelve chimes of midnight for good luck!
Germans prefer a small marzipan pig! Apparently pigs are a traditional symbol of good luck, the idea is thought to have originated in f..
We’ve had a few little snow flurries over the past couple of days, which is only adding to the christmassy feeling! Opposite our flat we have a small Christmas market, and there’s a slightly bigger one down the road at Namesti Miru
The lights are very pretty and there’s quite a few different craft and gift stalls, the Lindop family might be receiving a few bits and pieces from here this Christmas!
The biggest market is in Old Town Square, there are plenty of food stalls here –..
With so little time away from sending out orders, here are just a few of my favourite things from the recent Country Living Magazine Christmas Fair
Hilarious tea towels from Poppy Treffry - way too lovely to use
One of our favourites at many shows, these potato print pictures from Red Hen Originals
For perfection to detail in wood, check out Jenny Burt's work
And I love this amazing reindeer from Pollyfields
This cute little dog caught my fancy, from Angel Bill. I like the wooden ..
I always enjoy helping out at different shows, and this year was the second time that I’ve been to Spirit of Christmas in London. The first challenge for me was to get from Euston station to Kensington Olympia; last year I took the bus option, but this year I braved the tube, and managed not to get lost once (it was a lot easier than I expected). When I arrived Mum had already done most of the setting up, and there was just the finishing touches to get done (that's the part I love doing). I..
It may only be the beginning of October, but here at Penny Lindop Designs, we’ve been busy, busy, busy on our preparations for the Christmas period. In fact, we actually had to start thinking about Christmas at the beginning of the year when we were designing the 2012 calendar. It’s always quite a challenge to come up with new ideas for every month, so if you have any designs on your wishlist for future editions please let us know! I hope you like my idea for the Olympics in July...
October already and not a blog posted for weeks. Oh dear.
September is traditionally a busy month for us with the Autumn Fair trade show and the start of a new school year both falling together in a the first week or two, along with both daughters' birthdays in the middle of the month.
But this year we had some added "busy-ness" with Emma leaving to go to university, and a couple of business market place events falling at the same time as the birthdays.
But here we are, in October, and ..
Well, it is to be expected that this time of year is busy, but it still comes as a surprise to me each year! I've been at Blackthorpe Barn Christmas craft markets for the last 2 weekends, and will be there this weekend too - lots of Penny Lindop cards and artwork available. If you live in East Anglia and you have a passion for the beautiful and unusual, this is a wonderful place to visit. You can get your Christmas tree here too, and some really lovely decorations.
There have been some great ne..
