A Row of Woolly Sheep – Black Sheep of the Family
A classic picture from Penny Lindop with a row of 6 woolly sheep – with the amusing black sheep of the flock doing its own thing. The sheep are hand finished using real sheep’s wool which we source from a variety of Britain’s ancient and rare sheep breeds.
The background paper for this print is a paper made by hand in the Himalayan mountains. It is made from the bark fibre of the lokta plant which grows at high altitude in the Himalayan forests. This fibre is a renewable resource. Plants are cropped above ground level and regrow from the radial root. They can be reharvested after 3-4 years. Thus, no trees used. It is quite a dark paper, but suits the colours of these sheep beautifully.
